Animal Care Before Qurbani
If you have purchased a Qurbani animal and are keeping it at home before Eid, proper care is essential — both for the animal's wellbeing and for the validity of your Qurbani.
Feeding
Provide fresh water at all times
Feed dry hay or grass twice daily
Avoid overfeeding grains — this can cause bloating
Do not feed plastic bags, junk, or processed food
Housing
Keep the animal in a clean, shaded area
Ensure there is enough space to move freely
Clean the living area daily to prevent disease
Protect from extreme heat or rain
Health Monitoring
Check your animal daily for these signs of illness:
Loss of appetite
Unusual discharge from eyes or nose
Lethargy or inability to stand
Bloated stomach
Limping or wounds
If any of these appear, consult a veterinarian immediately. A sick animal may become invalid for Qurbani.
Islamic Guidelines on Animal Treatment
Islam places great emphasis on treating animals with kindness:
"Allah has prescribed kindness in everything." — Sahih Muslim
Do not stress the animal unnecessarily
Do not slaughter one animal in front of another
Sharpen the blade before slaughter — never in front of the animal
Recite Bismillah, Allahu Akbar before slaughter
Skip the Hassle with EzQurbani
If managing an animal at home is difficult, EzQurbani keeps your animal at a certified farm with professional care until the day of Eid. You get peace of mind, and the animal gets proper treatment.
